- Add few drops of oil and little salt to the rice before cooking. It will prevent rice from getting sticky.
- To make a softer roti or paratha, add warm water and milk in the flour, knead soft dough. Keep it aside for at least 15-20 minutes before making chapatti or roti or poori.
- When boiling potatoes, add a pinch of salt into the water. This trick helps to peel skin easily.
- Add cold water in the noodles or pasta after boiling and draining the water. Then you can get non sticky noodles and pasta.
- Use heavy bottomed pan for boiling milk and for preparation using milk like kheer or rabdi. Before adding the milk, add little water to avoid the milk from sticking to the bottom.
- If you have any left
over rice, then you can make variety rice dish like as curd rice or
lemon rice or rice pakora or tamarind rice.
- Add 1 tbsp of sugar
when you are cooking Paneer Butter Masala. It gives you nice aroma and flavor.
- If your any dish has
become very spicy, add some curd to the dish. It will reduce the spiciness
without reducing the taste.
- While cooking Maggie
or noodles, add 1 tbsp of sambar powder. It gives you wonderful taste and aroma.
- While cooking paneer dish, add some kasturi methi. It gives you wonderful taste and aroma.
- While cooking sambar, add
1 tbsp of ghee. It gives a wonderful aroma to the sambar. It brings out the
flavor of the dal and spices.
- While making idlli or dosa batter, add 2 tbsp of
methi seed or fenugreek seeds and handful of poha with urad dal and rice, soak
it for 6-7 hour and grind it.It makes idlli and dosa very soft.
- To avoid crying, cut the onions into two parts and place them in the water for 10-20 minutes before chopping them.
- Add a little rice flour to the wheat flour
while kneading to get crispy pooris.
- Add 2 tbsp of water to the egg mixture to
get fluffy omelette.
- Add a few pieces of raw potato (skin peeled)
to remove excess salt in the dish.
- Add a pinch of salt to the water while
boiling eggs to prevent the egg shells from cracking.
- While cooking ladyfingers, add a few drops
of lemon juice or a 1 tbsp of curd to avoid becoming sticky.
- Add a pinch of sugar while boiling green
peas to retain their green colour.
- To ripen fruits faster, wrap them in a
newspaper and keep them in a warm place for 2-3 days.
- If you have excess lemons, squeeze the juice
add salt and deep freeze it in an ice tray.
- For onions to brown quickly, add salt to it
while cooking.
- Soak almonds in hot water for 15 minutes to
remove its skin easily.
